Norman H had a passion for music from his early childhood which never at any point wained, teaching himself to mix vinyl on belt drive decks and cassette tape decks in his teens. He started DJing in and around the West London, Middlesex, England area where he grew in up bars, pubs, community centre discos and the like. Then in 1991, whilst holding a residency at a student pub in Pinner, he was approached by a member of the band Jesus Jones and was invited to to be their support DJ on the “Access All Areas” tour of Europe.
A few years on after moving to to Southeast Essex, the coastal town of Southend On Sea, he worked at the record store Vinyl Rhythm and set up his first record label, Coldtap Recordings, with shop boss Adam Carter. The label found favour instantly with the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, Dave Seaman, Sander Klienenberg amongst others supporting the label releases. Norman found himself playing local parties, which led to the creation of his label Stripped in late 1999 that had releases from numerous high profile guests including Nick Warren, Renaissance, Jo Mills, Dave Picconi (Azuli) to name a few. As the digital age took, Norman H created three new labels in late 2005, Stripped Recordings, Stripped Digital & Hype Muzik, of which Norman is the Label Manager / A&R. Another label was added in 2013 with the birth of Stripped Off.
On the DJ front, Norman continues to play gigs all over the world, and his enthusiasm for dance music doesn’t look to be fading any time soon. In 2016, he looks to go from strength to strength on the road and with his labels with new studio collaborations and compilation albums ready to go.
