Jon has always been a DJ who’s goal is to evolve with new techniques, technology and genre. Starting out in 2004 Jon bought his first set of turntables and started collecting records. Diving head first into the electro sound of that time Jon also mixed things up with older tracks of Kraftwerk, Madonna, Debbie Debb, New order and other 80’s/early electronic acts.
“I started out with that early 2000’s electro that was out. I still like it. I was super excited about things I ended up hearing from my friend DJ Charley Ten. Deeper, tech-house with a minimal feel to it. Then I went to my first big party. Richie Hawtin was playing. I had no idea who he was. That changed everything.”
After attending his first big parties Jon also started spinning minimal, techno and house. Switching things now between CD decks and turntables Jon started showing up behind the decks at local outdoor events.
“When I first started getting out there and playing in front of people it wasn’t easy. Half the people were very interested and danced. The other half wanted to know when breaks and psytrance were coming on. I just went with it. I knew what I liked and what I wanted to do. “
In 2007 Jon discovered Ableton and started experimenting with layering, looping and using effects to create studio mixes. Inspired by Richie Hawtin’s DE9 Transitions, Jon also wanted to create something interesting with the tools he had. This followed with a series of studio mixes which would be later how Jon would mix live via Traktor.
In 2009 he ended up in Detroit for the electronic music festival (DEMF) with fellow DJ Charley Ten. He would attend for the next several years and eventually play for Beretta records in their festival showcase at The Works.
He continued to be both a part in the outdoor desert and local club scene. Soon teaming up with fellow techno enthusiasts to birth what is now Bramble Republic. Since 2009 they have been a part of the local underground. Focusing more on community Bramble Republic looks to create relationships, connections and friendships through music and the experience of their parties. Currently he on board with Bramble as DJ and shade coordinator.
In 2010 Jon made the decision to completely do away with CD decks and go digital. Currently using Traktor with Allen & Heath’s Xone DX Jon blurs the lines with control of four decks and six effect units. His current style is a blend of spooky techno, minimal, house, disco and everything in between.
