Rancho Sol y Barro is a small winery owned by a Swiss-American family, located on the Ruta del Vino, situated on the Rancho Morgorcito, between the Viñas de Garza and Tres Mujeres vineyards.
The colorful round building at the top of the hill caught our eye as we were driving by, and we were impressed to find out the building, made of earth, clay, sand, straw and water, was created, built and hand sculpted by the vineyard owner himself. We were invited by the owner’s daughter in for a tasting despite they weren’t even open the day we stopped by. We left happy with a bottle of Sol y Tierra, which is the only wine produced by this meticulous eco rancho built buy Aime Desponds. After tasting it, we understand why.
