Native Alien is hosting the 2nd Annual Summertime-Pool-Party-Camping-Fiesta at the Rancho Agua Caliente Resort. This year’s event is called: Contact!

Enjoy camping amongst the oak trees with your friends on a private 800 acre eco-resort. Relax in the 108 degree hot springs tub and roman baths and splash in the cool Olympic size swimming pool. Listen to music played by your favorite DJs, and dance poolside under the sun and stars. Join us for an adventure!

Description:

The event starts at 4pm on Friday, July 6th, and ends Sunday, July 8th at 8pm. Native Aliens (You) are welcome to set up camp as early as Thursday, and are invited to stay Sunday night if needed. There is plenty to see and do, so please join us for the weekend!

Rancho Agua Caliente is about 2-3 hours South of the border. View our detailed driving directions, and use Google Maps. Be sure to read "Code Of Conduct" and "What to Bring" before you arrive! Don't forget your passport, and your Mexican Auto Insurance. Please carpool, and caravanning is encouraged!

Vinisterra Vitivinicola

Vinisterra Vitivinicola is in the historic San Antonio de las Minas area of the Valle de Guadalupe. The meticulous grounds and tasting room are a hint to the quality of wine here. Our tasting left us wanting more and we left with not enough!

We will be going back to this vineyard many times, the awesome tasting room is worth the visit alone.

Centro de Residencias e Investigación Artísitca

We were eating at one of our favorite Ensenada restaurants, Boules, when we were introduced to Hector and Aida. Hector Herrera is the creator of the Centro de Residencias e Intercambios Artísticos or – CRIA. He is also the director of the unique Galería Petanca which is is both an art gallery, and an indoor pentanca court. What a surprise to see both in one room!

Upstairs from the main teaching area and gallery are studio spaces for artists to live and work while learning the technique of their respective craft. We have stayed in one of the lofts that was decorated by a previous artist tenant from Brazil. This unique place in Ensenada reminds us that art happens in places you may not expect. We look forward to our next stay at CRIA.

Monte Xanic

Monte Xanic sits on one of the more spectacular sites in ‘Francisco Zarco’ part of the Valle de Guadalupe. Located on the side of a hill, the Monte Xanic vineyard impresses with a lake, and sweeping views of the surrounding valley

The amazing view is only part of the story, the vineyard means business. Rows of stainless steel tanks and the stacked cases prove, they are on it.

Casa Pedro Domecq

Casa Pedro Domecq from what we learned is not only one of the oldest vineyards on the Baja California Ruta de Vino, it also has the largest wine cave. The historic vineyard is in the Valle Calafia, which basically ends at their driveway, the rest of the valle below is now called Valle de Guadalupe. Next door to the vineyard is the infamous Silvestre, the Roberto Molino out door restaurant.

Once known for lesser wines (think Padre Kino) the brand has new owners and renewed focus on the higher end of things. We were treated to a great tasting and private tour. We had met the tasting room staff on one of our other trips, the Queso y Vino festival in Ojos Negros and they were happy to show us around the facilities.

Terra Noble Restaurante

Terra Noble Restaurant is located at the Viento Colectivo in El Sauzal, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. We have eaten here a few times and are never disappointed, the food and service complete the amazing location.

We can’t wait to try the other restaurants at the Viento Colectivo, for now, this is our favorite breakfast spot in Ensenada.

Corazón de Tierra, Villa Del Valle

Corazón de Tierra is the restaurant for the hotel Villa Del Valle. We were told of this place from a friend and drove the couple miles of dirt road to try it out. We are happy we did. This farm to table fine dining restaurant is awesome. They asked us if we wanted the fish or the beef. We said ‘Both!’

Rancho Cortes

The Rancho Cortes is a bit of a mystery and even to the locals there is a sense of adventure when you mention its name (if they even know it exists.) The Rancho Cortes is located a ‘couple’ miles off of the highway and you may feel a bit lost when passing the cows and sheep. Keep going and follow the ‘Queso’ signs to the farmhouse. Once inside, you will find a cheese tasting of 8 cheeses. From ‘fresco’ to ‘añejo’ and ‘gouda’ in between you wont be disappointed.

Vinos Xecue

Xecue pronouced, (check-we) means love in the local native language. The husband wife duo of this wine producer sounds like a match made in, well. Jose Luis and wife Alberta make some great wines. He grows the grapes and helps others in the area do the same. She is the chemist and formulates the many different grapes into amazing blends, drinkable table wines and gift worthy reserves. We visited their property and had a tasting and of course we ended up with a couple bottles. They have so many great wines, is hard to only choose one.

The grounds of Xecue include a grand outdoor patio where we could see a great evening happen. We look forward to bringing a group back to have a break here and eat some artisan bread, queso añejo and drink the wine of the Valle de Guadalupe and surrounding areas.
