Mexican Auto Insurance

Mexico flagFrom the State Department website…”Mexican insurance is required for all vehicles, including rental vehicles. Mexican auto insurance is sold in most cities and towns on both sides of the border. U.S. automobile liability insurance is not valid in Mexico, nor is most collision and comprehensive coverage issued by U.S. companies. Motor vehicle insurance is considered invalid in Mexico if the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”

Good thing we have you covered. Just click here and fill out the online quote generator and see how cheap this really is. When you order insurance, please put “AlienTom” as the place you heard of them. We chose this company because we can order online, the price is good and we like their style. True Native Aliens.

11-11-11 Scouting Mission Photos

Here are some photos from our November 11-12th trip to Ensenada. We started off our tour Friday at the ‘ruto del vino‘ w/ stops at Santo Tomas, Vina de Liceaga, Sol y Barro, and Vinos Fuentes, and ended up at a beach sunset dinner in Boules, where we were served fine dining, family style. (Dinner was awesome!!) Then off to Eurobar for a Red Alien Invasion, and we stayed locally at a hotel in Ensenada. Saturday we woke up to a downpour of rain that never stopped. Unfortunately we didn’t make it out to the Rancho. We had breakfast at Mokafe Deli as we watched the rain come down. We still had a great time and made the best of it! What a great group to stuck in the rain with! Cheers! Continue reading

Festival del Queso y Vino Ojos Negros 2011

The Festival Del Queso Y El Vino Ojos Negros 2011 was the 4th annual installment of the showcase of the legendary regional cheese and amazing local wines. What could be a better pairing of the senses? We were lucky enough to have heard about this festival from a local wine lover we met while wine tasting at Vinos Fuentes. We stopped by to check it out before heading back home to the States, and we are once again, glad we followed our instincts by listening to the local’s advice. This was a great event! Well done! Tequila Tasting in Ensenada

Tequila and Ensenada go together like… what ever you think goes together well… Ensenada is home of the Margarita, and also the more sinister and more infamous ‘rattlesnake’ tequila. So it seems fitting that we would find a Tequila Tasting spot on our Scouting Missions.

We tried clear anejo tequila, blanco tequila, flavored tequila, pink reposado tequila, and more. One of the more interesting things we tried was Tres Sietes Tequila. We will have to get that at some point, what a unique brand! With so many choices, we went with what we knew, the Don Fernando Blanco Tequila. While we were here, we also heard about a Tequila Expo in Tijuana, I wonder if we can squeeze that in too!

Vinos Fuentes

Vinos Fuentes is a restaurant and tasting room in the Franco Zarco section of the Ruta del Vino in Ensenada, Baja California. We have visited the tasting room many times and are always happy to get a bottle or two of the 11 wines on offer. The friendly open atmosphere, and super clean facilities makes this one of the finest stops in the Valle de Guadalupe.
